What a magnetic boiler filter actually does

Inside most central heating systems, the steel radiators and pipework slowly corrode over time. This creates tiny metal particles that mix with the heating water and form a thick black sludge. Left alone, this sludge can clog key parts of your system and reduce efficiency.

A magnetic boiler filter is fitted to the pipework near your boiler. As the heating water passes through, a strong magnet traps the metal particles before they can build up elsewhere. Many filters also have a small chamber that helps catch non-magnetic debris too.
